GEMREZ LR 2:1 is a sealer
& laminating resin for fibreglass, timber, concrete, and other materials

It is particularly suited
to manufacture of surfboards due to its outstanding clarity and UV
resistance. In addition to laminating it can be used as an adhesive, and
a clear finish coat.

When filled with Qcels,
microballoons, or similar it can be used as a sandable filling coat.

It has excellent impact
resistance and flexibility.

GEMREZ LR 2:1 has low
odour and pleasant handling characteristics.

Surface Preparation
-
All contaminants must be
removed from surfaces to be laminated.
-
A test patch is
recommended if the product has not been used before.

Sanding between coats is
recommended
-
Method of Application
-
For best results store ,
apply, & cure resin at temperature of 25 ° C.
-
Add 1 part hardener to 2
parts base (by volume) and thoroughly hand mix .
-
Hand mix small quantities
with a stick taking care to scrape sides & bottom of container then
allow to sit for a few minutes for air to come out - watch pot life.
-
In cooler weather pre-heat
containers in hot water or similar.
-
Apply by brush, roller, or
squeegee when laminating.
-
When coating a floor mix
resin by hand then pour on to floor and apply by squeegee. Then very
lightly smooth off with foam roller. Minimise the amount of rolling as
it entrains air.
-
Recoat within 24 hours –
sanding between coats is recommended after 24 hours.
-
Allow to cure in a dust
free environment – in cooler weather heat room to keep at 25 C.

microballoons or similar it can be used as a sandable filling coat.

Fumed silica or similar
can be used to thicken GEMCOAT LR 2:1 for use as an adhesive.

Cutting & Polishing - wet
sand with 600 then 1200 grit paper until a uniformly flat surface is
achieved. Buff with 3M 5958 cutting compound (or equivalent) until level
of gloss required is achieved. A coat of 3M Perfect-It III polish (or
equivalent) can be applied to give a very high gloss finish.

ventilation.

protection, and gloves should be worn.

Do not breathe vapor or
spray.
