Composition and Properties

GEMTREAD is a solvent free, low slip, self leveling two
pot epoxy floor coating.

It is formulated to give a hard , flexible, non skid
coating which is capable of handling most floor traffic.

It is formulated for areas which require low slip such as
decks , factory floors, changing rooms, toilet & shower blocks etc.

It can be sprayed through a hopper gun. It can be tinted
with suitable tinters – consult GemCot.

Tested to AS/NZS 3661:1993, Part 1 – Slip resistance of
Pedestrian surfaces.

Surface Preparation
-
Concrete must be 28 days
old.
-
Remove laitance (alkaline
salts on the surface formed during concrete cure) by either acid etching
with 5% hydrochloric or grinding.

All oil, grease , and
other contaminants must be removed (GEMPREP 2000 is recommended).
-
Loose rust, scale, and old
paint must be removed.
-
If applied over GEMCOAT
EFS epoxy sealer ensure that surfaces are free of contaminants.

If necessary clean with
GEMPREP 2000.

Method of Application

Mix hardener & base
separately then add 1 part hardener to 1 part base and thoroughly mix
using a drill with a mixing blade.
-
GEMTREAD is preferably
applied by Wagner (or similar) hopper gun with 4mm tip – shake mix after
each application to keep non skid in suspension.

Dry to recoat is normally
overnight but will vary depending on temperature & humidity.

Cure time can be reduced
in small areas by application of localised heating (40 ° C).

Note: do not apply at
temperatures below 10 ° C.

Handling Precautions
-
Avoid contact with eyes
and skin.

Do not ingest.
-
Use with adequate
ventilation.
-
Protective clothing ,eye
protection, and gloves should be worn.

Do not breathe vapor or
spray.

Keep away from children.
