Composition and Properties

GEMCOAT EFC 1:1 is a
solvent free, low slip, self leveling two pot epoxy floor coating.

It is suitable for
application alone or over GEMCOAT EFS epoxy sealer.

It is formulated to give a
hard , resistant coating which is capable of handling most floor
traffic.

It is ideal for factory
floors, dairy sheds, changing rooms, toilet & shower blocks etc.

It has low temperature
cure and will tolerate damp substrates and less than perfect surface
preparation.

GEMCOAT EFC 1:1 can also
be used as a self priming , surface tolerant coating for steel.

It can be sprayed through
conventional spray equipment when thinned 5-10% with GEMSOLV 2P.

GEMCOAT EFC 1:1 has
excellent chemical resistance and will withstand 100 double rubs with
MEK It can be used as an anti-graffiti coating from which graffiti can
be easily removed with GEMSTRIP GA graffiti remover

Surface Preparation
-
Concrete must be 28 days
old.
-
Remove laitance (alkaline
salts on the surface formed during concrete cure) by either acid etching
with 5% hydrochloric or grinding.

All oil, grease , and
other contaminants must be removed (GEMPREP 2000 is recommended).
-
Loose rust, scale, and old
paint must be removed.
-
If applied over GEMCOAT
EFS epoxy sealer ensure that surfaces are free of contaminants.
-
If necessary clean with
GEMPREP 2000.

Method of Application
-
Thoroughly mix using a
drill with a mixing blade.
-
GEMCOAT EFC 1:1 is applied
by spray, brush , or roller.
-
Rolling is preferred
method of application – use of a good quality foam or short nap roller
is preferred to achieve the best finish.
-
Keep a wet edge and DO NOT
go back over areas already rolled as this can leave roller marks and
shade differences.

Dry to recoat is normally
overnight but will vary depending on temperature & humidity.

GEMCOAT EFC 1:1 is
normally applied over with GEMCOAT EFS epoxy floor sealer.
-
It may be applied while
GEMCOAT EFC is still tacky.

GEMCOAT EFC 1:1 can also

Handling Precautions
-
Avoid contact with eyes
and skin.

Do not ingest.

Use with adequate
ventilation.

Protective clothing ,eye
protection, and gloves should be worn.

Do not breathe vapor or
spray.

Keep away from children.
