EPOXY POTTING RESIN - FIRE RETARDANT

  • Composition and Properties

  • GEMCOAT PR 2:1-FR is a solvent free, two pot epoxy potting resin.

  • It is formulated to give an extremely hard , resistant resin for encapsulating electrical components.

  • GEMCOAT PR 2:1 – FR contains non halogenated polymeric phosphate fire retardant at a level recommended by the fire retardant supplier as sufficient to meet the requirements of UL 94.

  • Physical properties

  • Appearance: Base - clear liquid Hardener – white liquid

  • Odour: low odour

  • Solids: 100 % Resin Type:

  • Epoxy Packaging: 6L & 30L kit; 200 litre drums of base & hardener

  • Mix ratio: 2:1 Pot Life: 1 hour approximately at 20 ° Celsius (150g mix)

  • Cure hard : Tack free 24 hours, 7 days full cure

  • Heat resistance Up to 150 °C maximum – user must test in their application

  • Packaging 1.5,6,30L kits; 200L drums

  • Surface Preparation

  • All oil, grease , and other contaminants must be removed

  • Method of Application

  • Mixing

  • GEMCOAT PR 2:1 is a 2 pot product.

  • Stir part B hardener thoroughly to incorporate fire retardant as it tends to settle.

  • Add 1 part hardner to 2 parts base by volume and thoroughly mix – a maximum of 3 litres at a time is recommended.

  • Warming base & hardener in hot water to 30-40 deg C before mixing will aid air release and speed up cure – viscosity will be similar to water at this temperature.

  • Pot life will be reduced.

  • Handling Precautions

  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

  • Do not ingest.

  • Use with adequate ventilation.

  • Protective clothing ,eye protection, and gloves should be worn.

  • Do not breathe vapour.

  • Keep away from children.
