Composition and Properties
-
GEMCOAT CRT is a three part , solvent
free epoxy topping.
-
It is formulated as a chemical & abrasion
resistant lining for concrete, steel, and fiberglass substrates such as
floors & and secondary containment (bunds) exposed to immersion and
splash & spillage.
-
It is applied by trowel over surfaces
primed with GEMREZ CR 1:1 resin.
-
It has tolerance of moisture, poorly
prepared substrates, and will cure at low temperatures.
-
It is formulated to have resistance to
most concentrated acids & alkalais, and other commonly used chemicals
such as solvents etc. – consult with GemCo for suitabilty for use.
-

& humidity Dry hard 24 hours for initial cure, 7 days full cure
-
Surface Preparation
-
All oil, grease , and other contaminants must be removed
(GEMPREP 2000 is recommended). Loose material, scale, and old paint must
be removed. All surfaces must be primed with GEMREZ CR 1:1 before
applying GEMCOAT CRT
-
Method of Application
-
GEMCOAT CRT comes in 3 part pack with correct ratio of ingredients.
-
Add hardner to base and thoroughly mix - a drill with a mixing blade is
required.
-
In cold weather warming base & hardener in hot water will make mixing
easier.
-
Then add aggregate slowly and thoroughly mix.
-
GEMCOAT CRT is applied by trowel.
-
Cure to a firm surface is normally overnight but will vary depending on
temperature & humidity.
-
7 days should be allowed for full cure.
-
GEMCOAT CRT is applied over GEMREZ CR 1:1 chemical resistant resin.
-
Allow to cure 24 hours. If possible then cure for 16 hours @ 50° C.
-
Allow 7 days minimum before putting into service.
-
Handling Precautions
-
Avoid contact with eyes
and skin.
-
Do not ingest.
-
Use with adequate
ventilation.
