CONCRETE ETCHING SOLUTION

• Composition and Properties

• GEMSTRIP ACID ETCH is an acid based etching solution for removal of alkaline salts (laitance) that form on the surface when concrete cures.

• These must be removed from the concrete surface before coating or adhesion of the coating will be compromised.

• Physical properties

• Appearance: water white liquid Odour: acidic pH: acidic – CORROSIVE 8!

• Coverage: typically 5-10 sq m /litre – depends on substrate

• Packaging 5 & 20L jerry cans

• Method of Application

• Use eye goggles and protective clothing. AVOID contact with eyes or skin – wash off with plenty of water if splashed on skin or in eyes. Pour on to concrete and broom on with acid resistant broom (e.g. PVC). Allow to bubble - ACID ETCH is reacting with and neutralizing laitence. When bubbling finishes wash off with plenty of water. Check pH is 7 (neutral) – if not then keep washing until it reaches pH 7.
